Waiting is not in my skill set...

We are all not so great at some things…my thing…waiting. I would rather start something with half the supplies needed than wait to start, procrastinate in any way, or miss out on an opportunity. Sometimes you just have to jump right in before testing the water, submerse yourself fully, give yourself a little bit of extra grace to falter while doing so, and feel the entire experience.  This doesn’t mean that some things aren’t worth waiting for…they are…and that’s where my current skill set fails me.

Each year on March 31st, our little shop turns another year older.  And I look forward to celebrating that milestone with each and every client, friend, customer, and neighbor that walk through the door.  In an effort to preserve that, I have rescheduled this event a total of FIVE times…yes, F.I.V.E. In reality, the shop is crowded, the socializing is fierce and wonderful, and the lines are long with people standing end to end.  The only thing that’s wrong with that is the current time in which we are living and recognizing that all of that will be impossible to do right now.

So, I have decided to kick the wait to the curb, because I am not great at that anyway, and still celebrate.  The birthday bash is going virtual, and I promise it will be better than one of your kids’ classroom zoom calls.  We’ll be posting specials and sales, BOGOs and Free w/Purchase, all the wonderful things you expect from year to year.  The only thing you’ll miss is the in-person vibe and the snacks and refreshments.  But, just know that with every order, comment, like and encouraging word from all of you celebrating with me that I am holding my coffee cup high, sending you a caffeinated cheers from afar, and reminding myself of this quote, “It’s not about going to a party. It’s life as a party.’ -DIANE VON FURSTENBERG

The party starts today with our signature tote, complimentary with a $40 purchase, while supplies last.  We’ll pack your order right inside for shipping or complimentary local delivery.  And as always, if you are missing something online, reach out…if it’s in stock, we’ll invoice you and get it out with the next delivery/ship date!

Stay well and…Stay…In The Moment,

Let me begin by saying we couldn’t be more thankful for all of our wonderful clients, friends, and tribe of small business supporters…your orders, messages, and check-ins have brightened our days, given us a sense of community, and brought joy during uncertain times. YOU are living the true embodiment of ‘We Rise By Lifting Others’ and we sincerely hope that the packages arriving at your doorsteps and porches have brought you just as much joy as we have had delivering them.

If you know me personally, you also know that in addition to being a full-time, small business owner, I am also a mama to 3 littles, wife, daughter and friend…all occupations that I hold dear and priorities that are so very important to me and those people I am blessed to call my own. Regardless of what is happening in the outside world, these amazing folks who continue to let me show up and be myself will always take priority.  With childcare, job requirements, and the lack of a cohesive plan to reopen across the state, our family is taking careful measures to assess how re-opening will look while also being cautious and care-minded about your safety and well-being.  YOU truly fall into the priority list alongside all the others.

The brick and mortar shop has been closed since March 14th, 2020, but the online shop has remained open and expanded beyond anything I had ever dreamed possible. Behind the scenes we continue to create, design, expand and process brand new inventory, and dream up new shop spaces.  Over the next two weeks we plan to change up the interior of the shop, continue to add new items, and make sure our kiddos complete the rest of what is surprisingly a successful school year for each of them. This brings us to hopefully opening after Memorial Day to new shop views, windows, and merchandise.  The process may look a little different for how you shop, but you’ll still be greeted with the same joy and beautiful local goods as always.

Until then, we will continue to offer complimentary delivery, new specials aimed at those of you who continue to support small business rather than rush to big box stores, and add new items to the online shop and social media weekly. From us and all of our small business vendors inside the shop, we cannot wait to move forward and thank you in person.  In the meantime, keep checking social media, the blog, and the online shop for all the goodies for yourself and the besties you continue to miss…and we’ll continue to be right by your side, packing them up, and happily sending them to you and yours.

Stay well and In The Moment...

And so we have arrived at Mother’s Day…

On some levels it feels like snow was just on the ground and we were scurrying through winter.  Alternately, it feels like 2020 is a slow moving sloth destroying everything in its path. I think wherever you land in the middle of that, we can all agree that 2020 has been some form of colossal joke, a never ending game of Jumanji or like your mother never told you that your real name was Katniss and you have now entered the Hunger Games.

Weeks have flashed and simultaneously crawled by and now we have arrived at the month of May and entered level 5 in whatever game 2020 is playing with us; Mother’s Day is nearly here.  I can tell you that although I will miss celebrating with my mama and mother-n-law, I will not miss the expectations, usually hurried day, and the added pressure.  Instead, it’s kind of like 2020 forced a socially acceptable messy bun, braless, yoga inspired pajama outfit on all of us and that is one thing I will be thanking 2020 for over and over again.

And because many of us are trapped, I mean snuggled, at home with our little people, these printable All About My Mom and Dad...Sheets always give me a laugh.  I have been 29 and 65 years old on the same day, worked as a cook and full-time mom (although I feel like those are one in the same anyway), and they've told me I weighed 80 pounds and 200 pounds (neither of which are close). There is something so magical about getting an inside view as to how your kiddos see you through their perception of the world; it is heartwarming and hilarious at the same time. So print these out and have your kiddos take the best survey of their lives…and then save it until next year when you can ask them again…trust me, it’s totally worth it. And in 2021 when we look back at our victory over 2020 and celebrate Mother’s Day again (preferably out to brunch with mimosas and bloody marys and someone else doing the dishes), their answers will never look so sweet as when they viewed us as mothers, teachers, yoga instructors, pajama-uniform wearing, zoom call professionals, restaurant owners, housekeepers, and possibly day-drinking mamas that stuck it all out, poured all their love in, and celebrated Mother’s Day in a survival-of-the-fittest style only 2020 could provide.
